About Time Banking

Time Banking is about spending time doing a service for a friend or neighbor in your community without any money being exchanged.

Members post requests for help and also offer services. All transactions are of equal value, an hour for an hour.

When you help someone with a request (ride to the airport, clean the windows, yard work, etc), you receive an hour of Time Credit for every hour you work. Those hours are deposited into a Time Bank.

When you need something done, you request the service and after it’s completed, you pay for it from the credit in your Time Bank.

No money is exchanged.

It’s a simple idea and it has a powerful ripple effect in building community connections. Sacramento TimeBank is an organized way to share your knowledge, skills, and services.  Instead of dollars, we bank hours.

With time banking, you will be working with a group of committed individuals who are joined together for a common good.

Building a Strong and Inclusive Community...

We normally meet on the Third Saturday of the month at one of the local libraries.

The Sacramento TimeBank is a great way to share skills and talents. Members help each other with rides to the airport, gardening, home care and craft making to name a few. The monthly meetings create a community of friends. Give it a try! Come to a meeting to learn more. Everyone is welcome.

I'm relatively new to TimeBanking, but I think it's a great way to share energy and resources with others. Even if you feel like you don't have a valuable skill to offer, you can always help out with rides, running errands, and household chores. And the monthly meetings are a great way to get to know your fellow TimeBank members!

I was new to Sacramento so I had no friends here. Time bank members welcomed me and introduced me to other people and other organizations. Doing time bank exchanges enabled me to get to know members one-on-one. It's a great way to give back while building community.
